The Daily Planet (Blog) Wants You!

The Daily Planet wants you!

The streets are abuzz with activity as Heroes and Villains battle it out for dominance, all the while still fighting against Brainiac’s forces.  With all that is going on it is virtually impossible for our current staff to keep up with the vast amount of activity.  As such, the Daily Planet is on the look out for dedicated photographers, reporters and cameramen and women to help assist with our endervors.

Do you think you have what it takes to get up close and personal with the Heroes and Villains of today to get the scoop on their deeds and antics? Are you fearless enough to get caught up in the heat of battle in order to get that perfect shot or video as these forces battle it out?  If so then we want to hear from you!  We are currently accepting applicants to fulfill these roles.  If you are interest, please contact me directly in regards to this.  Good luck!

Sincerely,

A. R. Knightly
Daily Planet Reporter

((OOC Note: With all the activity due to the megaserver we are looking for people who can help us to report the inside activity on guilds as well as individuals.  We are also needing people to take screenshots and videos of the activities going on in game; alerts, raids, duos, etc.  If you want to represent your league and report on their heroic or villainous acts then we would love to hear from you.  We also need people willing to get up close and personal with individual members of interest that the public may want to hear about.  If you are interested simply let us know.)

The Jobs:

Photographers and Camera Crew:  The primary function of these individuals is to provide visual images of events and other in-game happening in the DCUO world.  This can be anything from league sponsored activities or events to simple solo coverage of heroic or villainous acts.  We will ask that all photographs or videos submitted include information in regards to them.  What’s happening in the image or video, the date and time and the individual(s) or league(s) involved.  Basically, give enough information for the reporters to be able create an article for the submitted image.

Reporters:   The primary function of these individuals is providing news and updates for the DCUO community.   They are the “writers” of the Daily Planet.  They will be responsible for seeking out their own stories to report on as well as covering (writing) articles for images and videos submitted.

Sources:

Know that the Daily Planet prides itself on reporting the facts and, as such, each submission will require a source which will in fact be validated for accuracy.  Also note that while we usually only require one source for a submission, if we feel the article to be sketchy or too important to run with without further information, we may ask for you to provide additional sources to validate your information.   If it is found that the information submitted is fictional then the article will not be ran and the person submitting the information will receive a “write up.”   After three reprimands are accumulated the individual’s contract shall be terminated and they will no longer represent us here at the Daily Planet.

Applicants:

Those interested can either contact me via DCUO source or can e-mail me directly at arknightly@att.net

The Source is back!

Back in June reports were made of the loss of the beloved unofficial center of the DCUO community, DCUO Source.  We are happy to report that The Source is back and is operational again and we couldn’t be happier.  The announcement was made August 10, 2011 by Lead Moderator Glad_Dog stating:

When DCUOsource went down, it left a pretty big void. We had a large staff, a very active community, and we even had the privilege of frequent visits by the dev team for DCUO. Things were looking up!

But due to unforeseen problems, the site was brought down. Even worse, the backups were lost when the account was closed down. 3 years worth of posts and content were swallowed up in a second

But there were a few of us staffers, including myself, Durakken and IHateMundays, that refused to let a good thing die. So we took some action. It took a while to get our ducks in a row, and a lot of content still has to be rolled out, but we are back baby!

A lot of our former team has come back as well. I'm looking forward to DCUOsource once again being the go-to place for everything DC Universe related! Its going to take some time, but with the help of a dedicated community I think it will happen.

Slowly but surely many familiar faces are returning and The Source’s administrators are accepting donation in order to help keep the site alive and active.  More information can be found on The Source’s homepage:

Where have all the Heroes gone?

Due to the lackluster support towards DCUO in the past months many once renewed and prominent guilds have fizzled out of existence.  However, amongst the ashes still glows a shining beacon of hope that demonstrates that maybe all hope is not lost.  The Peacekeepers, formally one of the most recognized guilds in the DCUO community, is still going strong and have continued to thrive amongst the chaos.  Though their presence has not been felt as strongly as in the past, they still stand as a primary example of teamwork and unity.  Perhaps this guild that once dominated with activity and excitement will once again reclaim their presence or will we later find ourselves asking and trying to remember “Who are The Peacekeepers?”

Will the introduction of the Megaservers help to save DCUO?

With the introduction of the Megaservers, DCUO is once again experiencing a population equal to in activity from the days of when the game first launched. But is that enough?  There is no denying that the game has had its fair share of problems but it is believed that this move will do much to bolster the reputation and activity of the game.  Could this prove to be true or will this be an endeavor that even Superman couldn't save?  Only time will tell.
